The Itchy Pooch - Our Grooming Policy

Below you will find a short list of our rules and policies that we feel are important for you to know.  If you have any questions about these items please do not hesitate to contact us or ask your groomer.

  • Grooming services are by appointment only.  We will call you to confirm the day before your grooming appointment. If you think you have an appointment and do not hear from us by 6:00pm the night before, please call us! Something may be wrong with one of our schedules. At the end of your current appointment we strongly encourage you to book your next appointment with us, to ensure availability for you in our future schedule.

  • A fee of $35 will be charged for a missed appointment. This fee must be collected before we reschedule your grooming appointment. If you need to cancel an appointment, you may use our voicemail 24 hours a day. Cancellations must be made at least 12 hours before your appointment or you will be charged the $35 fee.

  • We may be forced to cancel appointments at any time due to weather/road conditions, equipment failure, etc.  Every effort will be made to contact you in advance and reschedule your appointment as efficiently as possible on a case by case basis.
  • For the safety of our groomers, we require up-to-date rabies vaccinations for all pets being groomed during your appointment.  For the safety of your pets we recommend that they be up-to-date on all other vaccinations.
  • While we encourage you to come inside to familiarize yourself with our salon before or after your appointment, for the safety of you, your pet, and our groomers, we cannot allow anyone inside the salon during the grooming process.
  • We will not demat a pet that is badly matted and has not been properly maintained. We believe extreme dematting is inhumane for your pet. For cases of extreme matting, we will strip/shave down your pet by going underneath the mats, very close to the skin. We will try to preserve any parts of the coat, where feasible, while making your pet comfortable and attractive as possible.
  • Any pets that are presented to us with a flea infestation will be shampooed with our flea shampoo,at no additional charge, to ensure a flea-free environment for all of our clients. 
  • We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet that has behavioral issues that may affect our safety or your pet's safety.  For your pet’s safety, we will not groom sedated or pregnant dogs.
  • If you are not happy with our services for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact us to have the issues resolved to the best of our ability. We do not refund money for a grooming service that can be resolved.
  • Payment of services is required at the completion of your grooming appointment. We accept cash, most credit/ debit cards, and checks payable to The Itchy Pooch.  Exact change for cash is appreciated; The Itchy Pooch does not carry more than $20 in change.
  • Returned checks are charged a NSF fee of $25.
